Man is a sinner and he sins because he is a sinner. Man is to be saved because of his sin in.. God is Holy and we maintain fellowship with him by repentance through God’s grace. Sin is a failure to obey the Law of God also a deification of self and a dethronement of God. It is the disruption of the creature’s personal relationship with God.
In fact all people are sinners because of Adam who sinned first and Adam’s sin has been imputed to all people because Adam is the head of the human race. This not means that man sins because of Adam who sinned but because the sin of Adam imputed to all people. People inherit that sin through the sin of Adam. Since Adam sinned, the fellowship of man and God destroyed that is why Adam and Eve hide themselves after ate from the tree of knowing evil and good.
Man is by nature totally depraved”. I disagree with this because in nature God created man as a holy being. Remember God’s evaluation after His work of creation (Gen 1). Man in nature created holy but Satan destroyed the state of holiness of Adam and Eve in nature. Man is not totally depraved; he has an opportunity to know God and live holy life because he is created in the image and likeness of God.
There is a natural weakness in the minds of men but man has an opportunity to re-evaluate himself as an imperfect being needs the grace of God found in the gospel of the Water and the Spirit.
Man created with the free will to obey or disobey God. The original state of man- created with the power not to sin but able to sin, freedom of the will. The fallen state of man is the power to sin and the bondage of his will. After being saved man has power to defeat sin.
A fallen man can do nothing to please God but by God’s redeeming grace he can.
God’s sovereign electing grace, sending His Son, Jesus who accomplished human Salvation. All people are elected, called to salvation but they become unelected by refusing Jesus as their savior. There are differences about God’s election but the point is still there that God called all people to salvation. God’s election lies on the Predestination-knowing them beforehand. Salvation of the human being is God’s plan.
People should know that the nature of their salvation is through the atonement God accomplish through Jesus. Without atonement God could not save people; Atonement maintained God’s holiness to overlook sin, his justice, immutability of God’s law, nature, truthfulness and the inestimable. Cost of his sacrifice implies the necessity of the atonement.
God gave his life to men through Jesus as a ransom for money. People’s redemption is costly. The sacrifice of Jesus is the answer to men’s guilt. Reconciliation is the answer to God’s alienation from us. Propitiation is the answer to God’s wrath and redemption the answer to the bondage of sin and Satan. Changes is man attitude toward may occur after being reconciled to God through the gospel of the water and the Spirit. Remove of God’s enmity toward fallen man as a finish work. People redeemed from the bondage of sin and law.
The application of God’s calling people to be saved.
The Bible says that all people called to salvation by God’s love (John 7: 37, cf Matt 11:28; Isa 45:22). Jesus died buried, and rose (1Cor 15:3-4). Human beings are called to salvation, to freedom, to repent and believe in Jesus and live holly life and fellowship with Jesus.
Justification caused salvation of the sinners which means believers in Jesus are constituted righteous by having Christ’s righteousness imputed to them. Men can do nothing to gain salvation, righteousness. Justification is a divine work and God’s grace is the foundation of of our salvation. Faith is not the ground of our justification but it is only means or channel to accept the gift of salvation. The necessity of justification is that because people are lost. It is for maintaining fellowship with God, spiritual health, peace with God, and freedom with Christ. This is the value of justification.
God is not like a dictator, he gave people the free will to receive or reject our salvation. Those who believe in Christ become God’s children to inherit the Kingdom of God. Christians are adopted to inherit God’s eternal life. Christians are in sanctification (holiness code) until Jesus comes. How can I know that Iam saved? (1Pet 1:5). Believers can know they are saved by the testimony of the Holy Spirit to reveal to them that God kept Christians through faith and unto salvation and the grace of God can not be lost as the Roman believe ( Rom 8:30). Glorious shall be the completed work of the redemption.
Man’s problem from his fall in Adam down through the ages, he is lacking of knowledge of God and sense of guilt before him .God’s love in Jesus is the salvation of this problem. God planed salvation of the human beings and executed and applied by the triune God manifold in nature.
This book intends to provide guidance in a systematic way through the Biblical materials. Generally teaches that salvation of man is God’s work of redeeming men through his grace, and our responsibility to tell other people about this great salvation. Human beings must confess to Jesus are sinners and only God is holy who can make them holy by turning to the true gospel of the Water and the spirit.
Believing in Jesus is an act of faith understanding of and mental assent to certain basic facts concerning the person and work of Christ culminating in a committal of one’s entire being of the person of whom the facts testify. People ought to know who Christ is, and he what he did to save people. Men are called to trust in God whom they have knowledge and eternal salvation. Human beings are to assent or know the truth of the gospel, respecting Christ, to believe and trust in Jesus, the Lord of salvation and be committed to Jesus Christ who saves through faith.
Conclusion
The strength of the book is that Rev. Paul C. Jong is based on using the Bible to defend his arguments and points. The Bible is the final authority to all men. He also acknowledges the divine work on man’s salvation. He does not agree that salvation involves divinity and humanity work. I agree with this because even faith in Jesus not comes because of human efforts, it is God’s work rather than man.
Actually Rev. Paul C. Jong succeeded to communicate his arguments proving by scriptures that Salvation of man is divine work through faith in the gospel of the Water and the Spirit. James NLM-Tanzania
